Service dogs

My current service dog is Ulf.

He alerts for my low sugars as I am a diabetic. He also helps me with mobility, because I have suffered a leg injury that has altered my balance. His other tasks include bracing, counter balance, bringing help, dragging me to safe place to be down after a fall.  He can operate light switches, and doors as well as retrieve dropped items. He is also very useful for guiding and alerting when in "fog" as part of my fibromyalgia and neurological needs . I would be lost without him. My previous dog only helped around the house during leg surgeries and times I was on crutches doing some of the same tasks. She was not a public service dog and I never left home without a service human during those years anyhow as I was not driving.

Some pictures of service tasks done for me by my german shepherd Aleit, which I trained. She is gone now, but she was an awesome partner and companion especially during my leg rebuild and years following.

I strive to help educate the public on service dog use and laws. They serve great purpose and service dog handlers often have a hard time because people are ignorant to the laws in place to protect their right to have their dogs with them.
